The Forsyth County Parks and Recreation Department is dedicated to serving all residents and visitors of Forsyth County through park development and recreational activities. Our nine parks (listed and linked below) are designed to offer opportunities to enjoy nature and the out-of-doors. We offer programs which help recharge physical and mental energies in a recreational atmosphere. Remember, “It is a GREAT DAY to get out and PLAY!”

C. G. Hill Memorial Park
This 70-acre park is an excellent location for small group gatherings. The gazebo/courtyard is nestled in the woods overlooking the lake with its water spray in the center. At the other end of the lake is the 500+ year old yellow poplar tree. The immense hollow center of the tree has been a source of many stories and legends. This tree was growing when Columbus set sail for America.

Horizons Park
492 acres of rolling wooded hills and natural beauty make up the tranquil setting of Horizons Park. This county-wide facility was purchased by Forsyth County in late 1977 from Horizons Residential Care Center. It is Forsyth Park System's largest facility and has been developed to retain its appeal to families and nature lovers.

Joanie Moser Memorial Park
This 18-acre park provides a picnic shelter complex as well as many opportunities for individual and group athletics in a natural and wooded atmosphere.

Kernersville Lake Park
Opened on June 1, 1990, Kernersville Lake Park has a total of 160 acres, 60 acres of which are taken up by the lake itself. Here groups and individuals enjoy the lakeside picnicking and the opportunity to fish from the bank or a boat. Children especially enjoy the brightly colored pedal boats and a chance to observe and enjoy the atmosphere of animal and marine life at this local water source. The Town of Kernersville owns the park property and has leased the land to Forsyth County to operate it as a countywide park.

Old U.S. 421 River Park
Old U.S. 421 River Park is a 1.58 acre specialized area designed for public access to the Yadkin River. The site offers an excellent opportunity to enjoy the vista of the Yadkin and the sports and pleasures of our county's only river.
